Mission

The Foundation’s mission is to encourage Glen Ellyn community volunteerism and extend Jim Rasins’ legacy of doing great things for the community by providing college scholarships and funding community-enhancing projects and events.

 

Vision

The JWR Foundation’s vision is to encourage community volunteerism as a whole, but especially among young adults. We hope to encourage them and show them how rewarding the pay off is if they “Keep Doing Great Things”.

 

About Jim

James W. Rasins was known to everyone as Jim.  He had a great laugh and did so much for his community.

Shortly after moving to Glen Ellyn, Jim quickly engulfed himself in the community.  He became involved in the 4th of July Committee where he served for over 30 years and also volunteered for a variety of other groups, including the Central DuPage Kiwanis Club, the Glen Ellyn Jaycees, and Public Action to Deliver Shelter, where he cooked food for the homeless. He continued to do many of these great things until he passed unexpectedly in September of 2017.

His family started this Foundation out of love for Jim and the determination to not only keep his memory alive in the Glen Ellyn community that he loved so much, but we wanted to recognize the next generation of community leaders for their hard work and volunteerism.

​Jim lives on in the hearts of the many people he connected with – not only through his volunteering but in all walks of his life.  Our 100% volunteer run organization is determined to raise funds with the hopes of ultimately establishing scholarships dedicated to community service volunteers and projects in Jim’s memory to encourage those to “Keep Doing Great Things”.

 

Information

The JWR Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation established by Jim’s family to award scholarships for high school students who are “doing great things” in their community like Jim was; and when funding allows to give to projects that are struggling to help enhance the community or special events when needed.
